REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

Maui Tomorrow has continued to champion regenerative agriculture, which consists of sustainable practices such as minimizing tillage, installing windbreaks, and cover-cropping. The goals is to restore and maintain natural systems and produce food in a manner that is healthier for people and the long-term health of the planet. These practices rebuild soil organic matter and biodiversity–storing carbon in the land and helping to reverse climate change. They also build soil that absorbs and holds water, thus reducing sediment-laden runoff that damages coastal ecosystems.
