John G. Varel, the owner of the Waihe’e Valley Plantation, closed a gate at the entrance of his property – a road that has been used to access swinging bridges. Members of the Kamaunu ‘ohana say that they have used a road near that since prior to 1892, giving them the right to access.

Wailuku Water has also closed off access.
