Maui Tomorrow Foundation invites the community to celebrate Earth Day, April 22nd with a free screening of the award-winning documentary, Gasland, at Wailuku’s Historic Iao Theater.
Doors open at 6:30pm with Joel Katz and his Hawaiian steel guitar, Gasland airs at 7:00pm, to be followed by an interactive discussion of sustainable alternative energy choices for Maui County.
“Gasland” documents the largest domestic natural gas drilling boom in history. Part verite’ travelogue, part expose, part mystery, part bluegrass banjo meltdown, part showdown, Gasland is a cross-country odyssey with unexpected humor, uncovering a trail of secrets, lies and contamination. The Huffington Post says “Gasland just might be the best film of the year. And it might just take you from outrage right into the fire of action.”
This free event, with donations gratefully accepted, is part of Maui Tomorrow Foundation’s educational campaign for sustainable practices. Maui Tomorrow Foundation is 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated, for over two decades, to responsible planning and sound management of Maui’s natural and cultural resources For more information on this event or other environmental issues, call 244.7570.
