★DISCUSSION of ACT 55~PLDC★
(Public Land Development Corporation)
Monday, DEC. 3, PAIA Community Center’s Main Hall, 7pm

UPCOUNTRY SUSTAINABILITY hosts Mahina Martin and Lucienne de Naie will present their research on the controversial PLDC recently passed by the legislature.

Specifically, they will address:
~How Act 55 evolved legislatively (using some of Gary Hooser’s insight/info)

~The authority and scope Act 55 gave the PLDC

~Where these “public lands” are on Maui

~The risks and ramifications of Act 55

~What people can do if they want to help get Act 55 repealed

★Mahina Martin is founder of PLDC Watch, a Maui-based effort working towards the repeal of Act 55. Mahina is a former communications and community relations director for the County of Maui, a past commissioner for the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, and active in many community-driven organizations.

★Lucienne de Naie, a 28-year resident of East Maui, has served as Chairperson and Conservation co-chair of Sierra Club Hawaii Chapter. She has also served as a member of a number of County task forces and advisory groups including the General Plan Advisory Committee.

★The presentation will be held at the Paia Community Center’s Main Hall. PLEASE NOTE THIS DIFFERENT LOCATION. It is free and open to the public. Call 573-9260 with questions about the event.
