County Council OKs Paukukalo Coastal Wetlands Purchase
The Maui County Council gave final approval to a measure to spend $1.7 million for the negotiated purchase of almost 64 acres of wetlands and oceanfront property between Waiehu and Waihee, referred to as Paukukalo Coastal Wetlands. The money would come from the county’s Open Space, Natural Resources, Cultural Resources and Scenic Views Preservation Fund.
DeGray Vanderbilt Withdraws Name for Moloka’i Planning Commission
County Council committee members voted 5-2 to recommend approving Vanderbilt’s nomination, with Council Members Bob Carroll and Mike White opposed. Before his appointment could come up for the full Council vote, Vanderbilt withdrew.
