"The Bill, regarding GMO labeling, is a proposed Bill from the Maui County Council to the Hawaii State Association of Counties, for inclusion in their State Package. If this Bill makes it through review by each respective County (Maui, Oahu, Kauai and Hawaii), it will then be supported by all 4 Counties throughout the State, and adopted as part of the HSAC STATE PACKAGE, for the upcoming Legislative Session. My main point is that councilmembers might not care if a food does or does not contain GMOs but a huge number of Maui residents do. And just like we label foods as containing peanuts or not, we should provide the same type of info re GMO or not.

Be aware of who you are talking to. When you testify, you are trying to bring up points that the members can relate to.

I believe that consumers have the right to know if foods that they ingest have been genetically modified. Furthermore I am extremely concerned in regards to the ramifications of the introduction of gmo s into our very fragile ecosystem. Some of my concerns could be addressed by supporting legislation that requires gmos to be labeled for consumer sale. Thank you for your time, consideration, and service.
